Draw the amazing cityscape and rooftops of Cardiff, capture the strange perspective and aerial views of people in the streets below!

Situated at the bottom end of The Hayes, opposite the John Lewis store.
Take the lift from just inside the foyer, up to floor 5 (the very top level of the library) and meet there at 10am.

Spend your Saturday morning at the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff,
free entry and it's warm and dry inside!
Meet at 10am. in the foyer, draw from the wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures, natural history, etc.

Around 11:30 we'll be in the downstairs cafe for coffee and a chat and then, if you can stay longer, there's a free tour starting at 12:30pm - highlights of some of the art galleries with a volunteer guide (book at the information desk on arrival).

Meet outside Barry Town Hall & Library at 10am. and sketch in King Square for an hour before going in to the Art Central Gallery for the latest exhibition of work by VOGA (Vale of Glamorgan Artists).
Richard and two other artists will be talking about their work between 11am and 12 noon.

Drawing at King Square, Barry - busy Saturday shoppers, colourful local characters, Victorian architecture and nearby Central Park - something for everyone.

Croesllanfro Farm, Newport is open as part of the National Gardens Scheme - come and draw in these beautiful surroundings. Two acres of mass plantings, stone barn and formal courtyard, with indoor areas if the weather is wet. Home made teas available.

Doing anything this weekend?
Come and join us for some or all of these happenings over the 2017 bank holiday weekend, lots of things to see and draw, don't forget your sketchbook!

Saturday 27 May from 10am.
Meet up with Richard who'll be at Art Central, Barry from 10am - 12noon.
'Six Hands' – an  exhibition of drawings by Antonia Spowers and Martina Jirankova-Limbrick. Charcoal, pen and pencil, line and tone drawings of the artists’ hands, feet and life drawings. As well as framed images, there are others hanging washing-line style - an exciting, addictive display.

Sunday 28 May from 10 - 12noon
Free Drawing and Collage workshop with Anna at The Mindfulness and Wellbeing Centre, 250 Cowbridge Road East, Cardiff from 10am - 12noon
Paper, textiles, scissors and glue provided but you might like to bring your own favourite drawing pens/felt-tip pens/black markers.

Sunday 28 May from 2 - 4pm.
Visit the Cardiff Met Campus, Llandaff to see the Summer Show of work by students at the Cardiff School of Art.
Meet in the foyer of the Art School building at 2pm. See the exhibitions and wander through the design departments including Ceramics, Graphics, Fine Art, Illustration, Architecture, Textiles, etc.

Tuesday 30 May from 10:30am

Some of us will be drawing in Newport, popping into The Barnabas Arts House around 10:30am for coffee and cake before going off to explore the neighbourhood and sketch the local views.

In the morning, at our favourite museum sketching, coffees and arty chat.
In the afternoon, at Cardiff Castle drawing its amazing interiors, the Norman Keep, wartime tunnels and city views from the Roman Walls.

Join us all day, or in the morning from 10am, or in the afternoon from 1:30pm
10:00 we'll meet in the National Museum for sketching, coffee+chat
12:30 time to pop around town for a quick lunch
13:30 meet at the entrance to Cardiff Castle then inside drawing everything!
15:30 pop over the road to Nata Bakery for coffee+Portuguese custard tarts
16:00 all done - happy days

Cardiff Drawing Group goes to Newport

We'll be drawing at the Barnabas Arts House gallery, very quirky, and also weather permitting, along the river front or around the new town centre. The gallery has a good little coffee shop serving sandwiches, paninis and cakes. And very nice too!

Whether you travel by train, by bus or by car, we'll meet at the gallery itself around 10-10:30am. to chat with the owner and see the exhibition space.
